November 2008: Goodbye Beechcraft 1900

Last Beech 1900

After 12 years of operation of Beechcraft 1900 Airlines - a commuter with 18/19 seats- the last aircraft of this type will leave our fleet in November.

Avanti Air started operation with the first Beech 1900, a C model, back in 1996 and expanded the fleet in the years after by adding two more aircraft of the D series.

This fleet was the backbone for many years of Avanti Air. Dozens of wet-lease and hundreds of charter contracts made Avanti Air well-known within Europe.

However in the last years the demand in Europe has steadily decreased and the market for 19-seaters was getting smaller. Only very few airlines still use 19-seaters in scheduled services mainly because of higher seat costs in comparison with bigger aircrafts.

Since two aircrafts already left the fleet in 2007 (D-CARA, the 1900C, was sold to the US and is operating there as cargo aircraft, D-CBIG, one 1900D, has been leased to Swiss Air Force) it is now time to say goodbye.

The operation of only one aircraft of a type is not worthwile, when taken into consideration the present legal requirements in combination with the costs arising. The last aircraft with the registration marks D-CBSF will fly for its new owner in the future in Canada.

It is not easy, but economically necessary, goodbye.

We say farewell and will always keep a good memory on "our Beech 1900".
