November 2010: Aviation Company Avanti Air performed an emergency exercise at Airport Siegerland

All involved persons agreed that "the more realistic this scenario will be the more use you will get from it."

Besides an ATR 72-202 from Avanti Air, some professional rouged volunteers were mobilized to guarentee a realistic emergency exercise.

Aim of this exercise was to train and optimize the cooperation and coordination of Avanti Air, Airport Siegerland and all involved rescue teams.

Jens Wildfeuer (Fire Brigade at Airport Siegerland) stated: Besides a regular individual training, such exercises express how important a smooth cooperation of all parties is.

Simulated was a failed emergency landing at Airport Siegerland on 06th November 2010. An aircraft of type ATR 72-202 overshoot the runway and many injured passengers had to be secured from this aircraft.

The Fire Brigade of Airport Siegerland, auxiliary fire brigades of some neighbouring communes as well as the German Red Cross from Burbach were involved in this emergency exercise.

All together approx. 70 people participated in this exercise.
